Description
Two varieties of rose are used commercially for the production of oil of Rose: Rosa damascena
(Rose otto) and Rosa centifolia (Rose absolute). While the properties of the two types do overlap
to a large extent, the differing chemistry accounts for some variations. The physical effects of
Rose oil are perhaps less important than its effects on the mental/emotional level. It has long been
renowned as an aphrodisiac and in this respect the Rose absolute is the more powerful of the two,
the differing chemistry of the two types confirms this.
Virtues – Invaluable in times of sadness and emotional trauma, tonic effect on the heart.
